Pictures from a week in Oban, Scotland with Puffin Dive Centre. I organised the trip for twelve of us from LUTON BSAC, we had two days on one of their 11m Super RIB's and three days on the hard boat Urchin. The Super RIB's really live up to their name, cruising at 30 Knots and capable of more if needed. Every Club's dream RIB!
Urchin was very different from most UK hard boats, being picked up was an interesting experience, the boat came over the top of you so that you passed between the hull's to the ladder inside the rear deck, see the picture above. I think the jury is still out on that one!
Highlight of the week was definitely the Hispania. Absolutely every inch covered in life and still very much a ship. We all came up from the dive saying the same thing FANTASTIC DIVE. Diver friendly Wrasse follow you hoping for some food or a bit of Urchin and one cheeky Wrasse went straight at the head of my buddy, trying to speed up the Urchin snacks no doubt! A very scenic dive with something for everyone.
This was also the first trip for my new digital camera a Canon 6.3megapixel SLR in an Ikelite housing with twin Sea & Sea strobes. I was very pleased with the results, even lighting on the close up's with the twin strobes and easier checking of the photo with an exposure histogram displayed after each shot which is much better than trying to judge the small LCD screen picture. Anyway see what you think from the pic's below.
